Get Up, Stand Up and Discover Jamaica!
From Mo Bay to Negril
By Heather Whipps
Jamaica has fought stereotypes and travel myths for decades, unfairly, for the most part. The cold, hard truth? It’s an incredibly friendly place that offers a variety of different destinations, a stunning natural landscape and some of the best service around. Our villas in Jamaica are luxurious and always come with a staff - making for a memorable holiday that offer peace and quiet. So, with that, we recommend you get up, stand up and cozy up to Jamaica. It’s as easy as finding the little corner of the country that’s right for you.
Here’s what they’re all about:
Montego Bay
Montego Bay is the place to go when you just can’t decide what Jamaican destination is right for you. In short, it’s got a little something for everyone: romantic resort villas and beaches to stroll for couples, golf for Mom and Dad, nightlife for the 20-somethings and water sports for kids of all ages. It’s also full of historical landmarks that you can explore on foot and elegant plantation homes just outside the main part of town. Don’t come to Montego Bay if you’re looking for the authentic Jamaica of old: this place is for pure relaxation and entertainment and it more than fits the bill.
Villas:
Ocho Rios
Located on the north coast and two hours east of Mo’ Bay, Ocho Rios is the country’s rainforest-waterfall territory. It’s here you’ll find famous Dunn’s River Falls and the gully rafts pictured in many a Jamaican postcard. This lush town can be busy, and there’s plenty to do, but Ocho Rios is mostly just a great spot to head for a lazy beach vacation. Villas make that an easy prospect, if we do say so ourselves.
Villas:
Negril
Long considered Jamaica’s capital of all things hedonistic, Negril has morphed some in the past few years into a place where man, woman and (yes) child could go for a simple, relaxing holiday. The nighttime fun is still tucked into corners here and there, of course, for those in your group who want to find it. Seven Mile Beach remains one of the area’s most gorgeous, too, for sunning by day.
Villas:
Discovery Bay
This quiet community is Jamaica’s family central, a wedge of the north shore with little in the immediate vicinity besides beachfront villas. People travel to Discovery Bay to hang out together with family and friends, usually with their own private sandy cove onto the water and green lawn spread out for barbeques or games.
Villas:
What’s in the Center?
Above we listed the virtues of Jamaica’s best known coastal getaway towns. The country’s vast interior is nothing to scoff at either, however: the Blue Mountains, perhaps most famous by its coffee of the same name, are dense, tall and a great place to rent a bike and go for a long and winding ride. |
