Staff Choice: Hacienda Alegre, Puerto Vallarta
We fall under the spell of a veritable jewel of a villa
Stephanie Farr, CaribbeanWay Villa Network Manager, recently had the opportunity to spend some time at Hacienda Alegre in Mexico’s Puerto Vallarta.
 I open my eyes and try to readjust to my glorious surroundings. Someone pinch me – the captivating views flooding the master bedroom seem like a dream, but I abruptly realize that this is my reality... I’m at Hacienda Alegre.
"Estate of Happiness" is the exact and most appropriate English translation for this 8 bedroom abode nestled on a 25-foot cliff overlooking the beach. Located on the northern coast of Banderas Bay just 45 minutes from Old Puerto Vallarta and 5 minutes from Punta Mita, Hacienda Alegre is surrounded by sweeping views of the mountains, the Pacific Ocean and seemingly endless horizons.
As I walk through the gates of this haven for the first time, I am greeted by the villa’s impeccable managers and staff, and their warmth sets the tone for a glorious couple of days. Although exhausted from my journey, I am soon revitalized as I’m escorted through the magically serene Zen garden and into the main house. They say "a picture can tell a thousand words" but the truth is, no photo can describe the beauty that lies before me!
  
I take a tour of the estate’s Main House, Guest Cottage, Pool House, and Cactus House – each consisting of two bedrooms and full ensuite bathrooms with unique and inviting designs. The tennis court, pool, game room and mini zoo all add to the enjoyment of this property.
The beach is only steps away, and although very tempted to get my feet wet, I realize that I’m late for some important engagements. I spend the remainder of my afternoon touring the Banderas Bay Coast and while amazed with all the new developments and tourist attractions, I subconsciously confess that I can’t wait to return to Hacienda Alegre to unwind from a long but well spent day of traveling and touring.
On my way "home" to Hacienda Alegre, I lost the race to the setting sun and consequently missed the green flash. However, my disappointment quickly disappeared as I lay outside on Hacienda Alegre’s veranda and watched as the colorful sky kissed the horizon good night.
