Best Places for a Getaway with the Guys
Villas are ideal for male bonding and good times

Last month we published an article featuring ideas for the best kinds of girls’ getaways to the Caribbean. Not to be outdone, it’s the guys’ turn to shine – though the destinations we’ve picked are, by nature, different. Not to incite a battle of the sexes, but a gang of males don’t converge for the same reasons as their female counterparts. Trips amongst men are meant to strengthen bonds, sure, but they’re usually not as direct about this – think sharing golf tips on the course in lieu of deep thoughts over glasses of rum punch, or high-fives on the fishing catamaran instead of massages on the beach. The Caribbean and Mexico are perfect for the occasion, offering a range of activities suited for guy-style holidays. Here are our top suggestions...
St. Martin: For Rolling the Dice
 Not every Caribbean island has casinos and not every island has great beaches. St. Martin has both, in spades. If a little casual gambling is your thing – and who doesn’t like trying their hand at blackjack every once in awhile – you can choose from an amazing collection of shiny, lights-blazing casinos in a relatively small area. Hit a few in one night if lady luck refuses to cooperate. Toss in some great restaurants and sizzling nightlife, if you’ve left the casino before 4am that is, and St. Martin is the perfect Vegas-south (bachelor party, anyone?).

Cabo San Lucas: To Party Hard
 Touch down in any Caribbean destination and it’s not hard to make your own fun. But few craft the experience for you as effortlessly as Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a party town that actually lives up to its reputation. Forget spring break: nightlife here is sophisticated, suave, and best of all, abundant. You could make it a 24-hour affair if you wanted, but most guy pals split their time between the clubs and the golf courses.

Barbados: Sports Fever
 Beaches, bars and sheer relaxation factor would be enough to put Barbados on our list of the best guy-holiday destinations, but this big island really shines when it comes to the more active side of life. It’s the ideal spot for a golf week, with several championship courses and great facilities. Scuba divers and fisherman will be in aquatic heaven. Try jet skis on the west coast or windsurfing on the rugged east. After all this, the beers on the terrace will feel well-earned.

Costa Rica: Extreme Holiday
 There’s something almost primal – and very male – about Costa Rica, a steamy jungle landscape just making its way onto the tourist map. For guys with an adventurous streak, the country is a buffet of adrenaline, with zip-lines waiting to be coasted and caves begging to get spelunked. It’s a great way to celebrate a promotion or big life event. Wind down, if you dare, and toast together surrounded by scenery that’ll leave you slack-jawed.
